The egb13 handle (meant as an “in-joke” for the cyptanalysts in the crowd, but I misspelled it) was created for preserving a few videos at YouTube before cleaning up space on the hard drive. Some videos received a bit of interest, so more have been uploaded to share with like-minded geeks. (If they’re not up your alley, just move along and leave us alone.) The videos are housed at http://youtube.com/egb13. They mostly involve time-lapse animation of regularly updating images from the web such as outdoor webcams and weather images.
Sometimes a certain video piques someone’s interest and a request is made for the original high-resolution version. This site was created as a vehicle for distributing those files on an as-requested basis. This site has fairly generous bandwidth allowances, but these files are very large. So no URLs of video files will be posted here; they will only be made known by private messages to individuals.
An appropriate soundtrack enhances any moving image, but it’s real hard to time-lapse sound, especially when the captured images don’t include any! Get your free sounds at ccMixter and The Freesound Project. Please observe the terms of the licenses.
Other interests that will appear here include cartography and weather. Other topics may appear over time as I use this medium to make notes for myself.
